Sustainable skincare from Switzerland for men: Jungkraut is ClimatePartner-certified

Jungkraut, the innovative Swiss start-up based in Zug that specialises in the production of high-quality skincare products for men, was founded in 2020 by Andreas von Muralt and Luca Mijnssen. Jungkraut uses first-class ingredients and sustainable production methods to offer natural and effective skincare products, from facial care to body care. Each product is developed with the specific needs of men's skin in mind and produced in Toggenburg (Canton St. Gallen) using state-of-the-art technology and the highest production standards. Jungkraut established itself in the cosmetics market with a clear focus on quality and environmental awareness.

Sustainability has played a central role at Jungkraut since the company’s founding. From product development to production and distribution, great importance is always placed to the conservation of resources, environmental friendliness, and climate action. For example, only natural ingredients are used in the products, without any synthetic fillers, preservatives, or microplastics. Jungkraut uses the most sustainable, recyclable materials possible for its packaging.

With ClimatePartner, the company has taken further steps in its commitment to sustainability: they calculated the carbon footprints for both their products and the company, derived reduction potentials from this, defined reduction targets, and is continuously implementing measures to reduce emissions. Jungkraut also finances certified climate projects in the amount of the remaining emissions. Jungkraut communicates its commitment to climate action transparently with the ClimatePartner certified labels and the corresponding climate-ID pages, both for the products and the company.

Jungkraut's priority is to avoid and reduce CO2 emissions. The company uses green electricity and heat from renewable energy sources for the production of its products and business operations. Even though 50% of the primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging is made from recycled materials, Jungkraut still sees potential for reducing material: the aim is to significantly reduce the amount of outer packaging by 2025 and, if possible, avoid it altogether, which will lead to lower emissions in the production of materials and packaging.

In addition, Jungkraut offers its products in refill bags whenever possible to reuse the high-quality product packaging and thus reduce the amount of material used for primary packaging. Jungkraut also favours regional sourcing and production. Production materials are sourced from regional manufacturers whenever available, which leads to a net reduction in emissions in this area. Emissions are also reduced in inbound and outbound logistics through reduction measures such as route optimisation, combining transports, and increasing the load factor.

At the company level, Jungkraut set itself the goal of reducing its Scope 3 emissions by 10% by 2031, which will be achieved primarily by reducing emissions from employee transportation and business travel.

As a company with roots in Switzerland, Jungkraut is particularly committed to local engagement. For this reason, the company is financing a combined project that contributes to the financing of a certified climate project and additionally supports nature conservation and biodiversity in Switzerland.
