Decarbonisation roadmap

Net zero strategy: a clear path to decarbonising your company

The key factor to identify and achieve reduction targets

Reducing emissions in a structured way often presents a challenge for companies, but this is the key component to reaching net zero. Unlike calculating your greenhouse gas emissions (guided by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol), or setting science-based targets (guided by the SBTi), there is no uniform framework for the most efficient way to reduce emissions.

We can help you navigate the maze of online advice, providing relevant best practices and industry benchmarks for your industry-specific context, so that we can jointly evaluate and quantify suitable reduction measures.

Your benefits

  • Pre-target stage: Assess the appropriate target types (e.g., absolute target vs. intensity target) and the most suitable level of ambition (e.g., in preparation for target submission to SBTi)
  • Post-target stage: Evaluate the feasibility of already established targets and how any ambition gaps can be closed
  • For continuous reduction: Pursue reduction in a structured and economical way and establish your reduction roadmap as a progress tracking and monitoring tool

How we do it

We take a bottom-up approach, involving ClimatePartner and your company's experts to identify the biggest hotspot areas, based on your corporate carbon footprint. In a series of interviews and workshops, we analyse various possible reduction measures. We support you to quantify the impact of these measures and assess their feasibility, based on our experience, industry knowledge, and supporting data.

With our proprietary emissions forecasting tool, we perform a scenario-based emissions forecast and compare it to science-based target pathways. This enables you to either evaluate the suitability of potential targets or assess the feasibility of existing targets.

Successful decarbonisation: The apt Group

From façade construction to technical equipment and packaging: aluminium is a component of many products. However, the production of aluminium is energy intensive and contributes significantly to climate change, making up 3% of carbon emissions globally.
Read the full success story to learn how ClimatePartner helped the apt Group develop a roadmap to decarbonisation by making reduction measures correspond to the net zero target by 2050.
